Chevrolet Takes Home 4 Car and Driver Editors’ Choice Awards

2022 Chevrolet Tahoe | Ft Meade, FL

Each year the editors at Car and Driver select vehicles worthy of the Editors’ Choice awards. This year, four Chevrolet models won these accolades: Chevy Suburban, Chevy Tahoe, Chevy Camaro ZL1, and Chevy Corvette.

Fullsize SUV honors

Both the Chevy Suburban and the Tahoe earned recognition in the full-size SUV category. The judges called the Suburban sophisticated and an excellent trailering vehicle. They also praised it for its ample space for passengers and gear, offering more room than its award-winning sibling, the Tahoe. The Tahoe, though, had plenty of bragging rights, as it won for its still spacious cabin, towing capacity, and modern features.

Muscle car mention

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 earned a top spot in the muscle car category and impressed the editors with its supercharged V8 engine. “Not only is the ZL1 the ultimate Camaro, but it’s also the king of the racetrack-ready muscle cars,” according to Car and Driver.

Sports car winner

Taking its rightful honor in the sports car category, the Chevrolet Corvette was lauded for its high-end materials, features and — of course — thrilling performance. C/D noted, “Ferrari moves and incandescent performance with a Chevrolet price tag makes the Corvette C8 a hugely desirable sports car, one with mass appeal.”

Chevrolet One of the Longest-Lasting Car Brands, Says Study

Long Lasting Chevrolet Brand in Fort Meade, FL

In 2019, iSeeCars.com analyzed over 15.8 million cars in 2019 to find out the longest-lasting car brands. Their sole aim was to figure out which makes and models had made it past the 200,000-mile mark on the odometer. The study then ranked vehicles and brands by the percentage of vehicles still on the road after 200,000 miles.

iSeeCars CEO Phong Ly cited “truck-like SUVs and pickup trucks” as the vehicles most likely to last. This category includes the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, the Chevrolet Tahoe and the Suburban.

Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban

Both of these full-size SUVs ranked high on the chart of overall highest-ranking vehicles. The Chevrolet Suburban came in with a rating of 4.9 percent, while the Tahoe was 4.1 percent. The industry average for vehicles overall was only 1 percent, and the industry average for all SUVs was even smaller at 0.9 percent.

Chevrolet Silverado 1500

In the Longest-Lasting Pickup Truck category in the iSeeCars study, 2.0 percent of the vehicles still on the road after passing the 200,000-mile mark are Chevy Silverado 1500 models. This puts them above the segment average of 1.8 percent.

When it came to the longest-lasting brands, Chevrolet came in at 4th place overall, with 1.4 percent of vehicles on the road over 200,000 miles hailing from the bowtie brand.
