The Chevrolet Silverado is a truly reliable ride, but don’t just take our word for it. U.S. News & World Report recently named the Silverado one of the easiest vehicles to maintain and repair, which means you’ll save money and time when you opt for this pickup. The editors at U.S. News specifically cited the longevity of the Silverado as one of its most prized characteristics.
What does U.S. News mean when it refers to “reliability”? The Silverado and other models named to the Top 10 Easy Cars to Maintain and Repair list were evaluated based on the length of time between service intervals, simplicity of repairs, the space of the engine compartment, and ease of finding replacement parts. The Silverado checks boxes in each of these categories, making it easy for mechanics to fix quickly and efficiently.
“Today’s cars last longer than vehicles of old, have longer service intervals between needed maintenance, and are generally more reliable. They’re also much more complex, with costly components that are more easily replaced than repaired. The typical service interval requires much more than changing the oil,” reads the U.S. News release.
Silverado durability is also due in part to the simplicity of certain mechanical components. For example, many GM models come with naturally aspirated engines, which are less complex than turbocharged powertrains. Plus, the roomy engine compartment makes it easy to access maintenance points, while the steel design is easier to repair than the aluminum found on some competitors’ models.
