A diesel engine provides pickup truck drivers with the best of both worlds. These engines are more efficient than the average truck engine, yet still managed to deliver a powerful amount of horsepower and torque. That’s precisely why each Chevrolet truck includes a diesel engine option.

That decision is now garnering some praise for Chevrolet. After all, each of its pickup truck models managed to gain a spot on the U.S. News & World Report list of the 11 Best Diesel Pickup Trucks of 2021.

The most popular of the Chevrolet Pickup trucks, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, has long had a diesel engine offering. The latest Silverado 1500 model can achieve 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque with its Duramax 3.0-liter Turbo-Diesel engine. With that amount of power at its disposal, the Silverado 1500 can tow up to 9,500 pounds.

The larger Silverado HD model can make even more use out of its diesel engine offering, a Duramax 6.6-liter Turbo-Diesel V8 that helps it produce up to 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. The Silverado HD can tow up to 36,000 pounds with that amount of power.

Even the mid-size Chevrolet Colorado comes with a diesel engine offering, helping it produce up to 181 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque.

When it comes to towing and hauling, few vehicles can match the capabilities of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Thanks to some new advancements from the team at Chevrolet, it’s going to be even harder for the competition to catch up.

Chevrolet just announced that the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 will offer an available Multi-Flex Tailgate.

You might recognize the Multi-Flex Tailgate as an exclusive feature for the GMC Sierra pickup truck, where it is known by the MultiPro moniker. GM is now preparing to transfer that feature over to its Silverado line of trucks.

With this advanced tailgate technology, Silverado drivers will have access to six unique tailgate configurations. These configurations will make it easier than ever to store your supplies and cargo in the bed of the Silverado.

The Multi-Flex Tailgate isn’t the only advancement Chevrolet is introducing to the latest Silverado model. Accompanying this new tailgate is a plethora of trailering and towing enhancements for the signature Chevrolet truck.

Thanks to a more refined 2.7-liter Turbo engine, the tow rating of the Silverado 1500 Crew Cab increases to 9,300 pounds. The tow rating of Silverado models equipped with the 3.0-liter Duramax engine also increases to a maximum of 9,500 pounds.

These are only a few of the enhancements that the 2021 model of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is set to receive. Learn more about what this latest Silverado can offer to you by reaching out to our team at Greenwood Chevrolet.
