The Chevrolet Corvette continues to win both hearts and awards. The 2019 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 earned honors at the 2019 Sport Auto Awards in November, taking home two trophies: one in Convertibles/Roadsters under 150,000 and the other in Euros and Coupes under 150,000 Euros.
The Corvette Z06 boasts a 6.2-liter Supercharged V8 that delivers 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to that kind of power, it earned a score of 52.2 percent in the convertibles and roadsters class, allowing the Corvette Z06 to take the top prize over the Jaguar F-Type SVR and Maserati GranCabrio. In the coupe class, the Corvette Z06 had a tighter race. It beat out the F-Type SVR and the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye with a score of 38.7 percent.
This is the 27th year that the German magazine, Sport Auto, has run the awards, which are calculated in a reader’s choice format. Readers chose from a field of 238 vehicles in 18 production and 10 tuning vehicle categories Almost 13,000 readers participated this year in the voting process, which is held every year in November.
Chevrolet is planning to release a new Corvette, which will be the most powerful version of the Corvette Stingray ever made. It’s capable of producing 490 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. With stats like that, more awards are surely in Chevrolet’s future.
