The First-Ever Pursuit-Rated Chevy Silverado Joins Iconic Tahoe PPV

Chevy recently commemorated its 25th anniversary of the Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicle by adding one more vehicle to the PPV lineup: the Silverado 1500. Per Chevy, the pursuit-rated Silverado will arrive in the U.S. later this summer.

The Silverado PPV borrows some key elements from its Tahoe sibling. It has a 5.3-liter V8 and 10-speed automatic transmission that puts forth 355 horsepower. All-wheel drive gives the truck enhanced stability and traction to conquer various terrain and road conditions.

It can also tow 1,100 pounds more than the Tahoe PPV — 9,300 pounds, to be exact. That way, police officers can transport trailers for marine and mounted divisions when necessary.

Chevy has equipped the Silverado PPV with many features for rougher routes, such as a skid plate, locking rear differential, and Rancho shocks. A 2-inch lift enables a 25.9-degree approach angle and a best-in-class 11.4-inch ground clearance rating.

The pursuit-rated Silverado has safety systems and convenient touches to make officers’ drives safer and less stressful. Each Silverado PPV automatically comes with the Chevrolet Safety Assist package. Inside the cabin, the heavy-duty vinyl flooring and rear seats are easy to clean. And law enforcement can leverage remote keyless entry and push-to-start technologies to hit the road faster when urgency is a priority.

Chevrolet Takes Home 4 Car and Driver Editors’ Choice Awards

2022 Chevrolet Tahoe | Ft Meade, FL

Each year the editors at Car and Driver select vehicles worthy of the Editors’ Choice awards. This year, four Chevrolet models won these accolades: Chevy Suburban, Chevy Tahoe, Chevy Camaro ZL1, and Chevy Corvette.

Fullsize SUV honors

Both the Chevy Suburban and the Tahoe earned recognition in the full-size SUV category. The judges called the Suburban sophisticated and an excellent trailering vehicle. They also praised it for its ample space for passengers and gear, offering more room than its award-winning sibling, the Tahoe. The Tahoe, though, had plenty of bragging rights, as it won for its still spacious cabin, towing capacity, and modern features.

Muscle car mention

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 earned a top spot in the muscle car category and impressed the editors with its supercharged V8 engine. “Not only is the ZL1 the ultimate Camaro, but it’s also the king of the racetrack-ready muscle cars,” according to Car and Driver.

Sports car winner

Taking its rightful honor in the sports car category, the Chevrolet Corvette was lauded for its high-end materials, features and — of course — thrilling performance. C/D noted, “Ferrari moves and incandescent performance with a Chevrolet price tag makes the Corvette C8 a hugely desirable sports car, one with mass appeal.”

Does Your Vehicle Need New Windshield Wipers?

Does Your Vehicle Need New Windshield Wipers? | Ft. Meade, FL

Spring rain is on its way to Florida. To maximize your visibility and stay safe on the road, it’s essential to have well-maintained windshield wipers. Here’s a look at the signs that it’s time to replace your vehicle’s wiper blades.

Strange sounds

A good set of windshield wipers should be relatively quiet. If they’re damaged, they’ll squeak, stutter, stall, or vibrate when in use.

Streaks

Worn-out wipers will leave grimy streaks on the glass, limiting your visibility. They may also fail to clear away water in those spots.

Check your service records

Even if your car’s wiper blades aren’t showing these signs, it’s a good idea to consider the last time they were changed. Florida’s intense sun and precipitation can cause wiper blades to wear out more quickly than the typically recommended service interval suggests.

Helping wiper blades last longer

To get more service out of your car’s windshield wipers, consider these pointers. If you’ve got tough debris, like dried-on dead bugs or bird droppings, consider scrubbing them off with a squeegee instead of using the wipers. And to protect the rubber or silicone wipers from dry rotting, park in the garage or in the shade.

Chevrolet Trailblazer Named an IIHS Top Safety Pick+

Chevrolet Trailblazer Named an IIHS Top Pick+ | Fort Meade, FL

The Chevrolet Trailblazer has been named a Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the organization’s highest possible award.

IIHS requires Top Safety Pick+ vehicles to earn Good ratings in six crash tests, at least an Acceptable headlight rating, and Advanced or Superior ratings for front crash prevention. The Trailblazer, a versatile compact crossover SUV designed for both off-roading prowess and sporty road performance, received nearly perfect scores.

This is partly thanks to its standard Forward Collision Alert with Automatic Emergency Braking and Front Pedestrian Braking systems, which are part of the Chevy Safety Assist suite of advanced safety features. Forward Collision Alert received the highest Superior score, while Front Pedestrian Detection earned an Advanced rating.

The Trailblazer comes with several other standard safety features too, including Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, which helps drivers avoid drifting out of their lane. IntelliBeam®, a feature that toggles high beams on and off depending on traffic, and Following Distance Indicator are also standard.

With an available hands-free liftgate, smart cargo management, available AWD, and super versatile performance, the Chevy Trailblazer is one of the most capable and reliable compact SUVs on the market. Chevrolet Traverse Wins IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK Award | Fort Meade, FL

The IIHS has named the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse a TOP SAFETY PICK, displaying Chevrolet’s dedication to building vehicles that protect families in every situation and at every turn.

In order to qualify for a TOP SAFETY PICK award, a vehicle must earn a “Good” rating in each of the six crash tests administered by the IIHS: driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraint tests.

Vehicles must also offer a front crash prevention system. Changes on the Way for 2022 Chevrolet Traverse

Chevrolet Traverse | Fort Meade, FL

Some big changes are coming to the Chevrolet Traverse for the 2022 model year. The addition of new design and exterior features and the loss of the base L trim are just a few new things to expect.

The 2022 Chevy Traverse will no longer offer its L trim, which means the LS trim will become the most affordable model. These features will likely remain as optional on the 2022 Chevy Traverse LS.

The Traverse will receive a refreshed exterior design, including a new front fascia and new grilles, LED taillamps, and more. Chevy Safety Assist will be standard on all 2022 models. This package includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Following Distance Indicator, Forward Collision Alert, and IntelliBeam automatic high beam control.

Availability for Adaptive Cruise Control expands, with the system added as standard on the RS, Premier, and High Country trims and available on LT Leather. You can also use wireless Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® capabilities to connect your smartphone.
