The IIHS has named the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse a TOP SAFETY PICK, displaying Chevrolet’s dedication to building vehicles that protect families in every situation and at every turn.
In order to qualify for a TOP SAFETY PICK award, a vehicle must earn a “Good” rating in each of the six crash tests administered by the IIHS: driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraint tests.
Vehicles must also offer a front crash prevention system. After going through vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian tests, the system must achieve an “Advanced” or “Superior” rating for a car to be named a TOP SAFETY PICK. In addition, the vehicle must offer at least one headlight package that receives a “Good” or “Acceptable” designation.
The available LED projector headlights on the Premier and High Country trims of the 2021 Traverse performed well enough to pass the test and earn the award. Both of the Traverse’s optional automatic emergency braking systems received “Superior” ratings in the vehicle-to-vehicle evaluation.
In the vehicle-to-pedestrian testing, the Traverse’s Automatic Emergency Braking with Front Pedestrian Braking took home a “Superior” score, while the Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking with Front Pedestrian Braking earned an “Advanced” rating.

Some big changes are coming to the Chevrolet Traverse for the 2022 model year. The addition of new design and exterior features and the loss of the base L trim are just a few new things to expect.
The 2022 Chevy Traverse will no longer offer its L trim, which means the LS trim will become the most affordable model. When you look at the 2021 L and LS trims, you will find nearly all of the same standard features, with the LS offering more available options, such as gloss black-painted aluminum wheels, a black finish grille, and cargo nets. These features will likely remain as optional on the 2022 Chevy Traverse LS.
The Traverse will receive a refreshed exterior design, including a new front fascia and new grilles, LED taillamps, and more. Chevy Safety Assist will be standard on all 2022 models. This package includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Following Distance Indicator, Forward Collision Alert, and IntelliBeam automatic high beam control.
Availability for Adaptive Cruise Control expands, with the system added as standard on the RS, Premier, and High Country trims and available on LT Leather. You can also use wireless Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® capabilities to connect your smartphone.

We’ve all seen cars on the side of the road with the hood up and steam pouring from the engine compartment. What should you do if it’s your vehicle that’s overheating? Follow these tips to keep damage to a minimum until you can bring your car in for repairs at Greenwood Chevrolet in Fort Meade, Florida.
Turn on the Heat
It might be tempting to turn on the air conditioning, but turning on the heating system will cool your vehicle’s engine faster.
Get off the Road
Don’t drive your car when it is overheating because this could cause serious engine damage. Pull off the road in a safe place, put on your flashers, and turn off the engine.
Open the Hood
After your car is safely parked, carefully open the hood. This allows heat to escape and there can be steam, so step back quickly. Do not open the radiator cap at this time.
Look for Leaks
Once the engine has cooled down, look for any leaks or holes in the radiator hose. Carefully remove the radiator cap and check the coolant level. Add coolant if it is low. If you don’t have coolant, water will do until you can get your car to a garage.
Here at Greenwood Chevrolet, our service department is here to help, so be sure to give us a call for overheating or any other car problems you encounter this summer and beyond.
Things are heating up here in Ft. Meade, Florida — and that means you’ll soon be running your car’s air conditioning system at full blast. But if your car’s climate control system isn’t smelling as fresh as you’d like, you’re not resigned to masking the stink with air fresheners or driving with the windows down. Here’s a look at some common causes of stale-smelling AC.
If your car’s AC smells more like an old gym bag or dirty locker room, you’ve probably got a grimy cabin air filter on your hands. Over time, these filters can pick up dust and bacteria, so do yourself a favor by swapping it out for a fresh one.
However, if it’s more a musty basement scent that you’re dealing with, it could point to a few potential issues. There could be mold on the inside of your car’s air vents, or it could indicate a malfunctioning drain tube leaking moisture into your cabin. To figure out which one you’re dealing with, check your car’s floor and footwells for moisture. If it’s damp, it’s probably a leaky drainage system. It’s also a good idea to clean the backs of your car’s air vents, while you’re tidying up.
Noxious chemical odors point to a refrigerant leak in your car’s climate control system. Sweet, syrupy smells, on the other hand, indicate that your vehicle has a damaged heater core, so have that checked out by the experts at Greenwood Chevrolet at your earliest convenience.
Need help pinpointing — or fixing — a problem with your car’s climate control system? Schedule an appointment with our factory-trained technicians at the Greenwood Chevrolet service center in Ft. Meade, Florida.

Many Americans like to keep their money here in the United States by purchasing products that have been made in America. One of the biggest purchases anyone can make is a new vehicle. If you are looking for a quality, American-made vehicle, you should buy a General Motors model — at least according to recent studies by Cars.com and the American University Kogod School of Business.
In this year’s American-Made Index, Cars.com studied 91 vehicles. To create the list, Cars.com used information for percentage of Canadian and U.S. parts, U.S. manufacturing employees, final assembly location, and country of origin for engines and transmissions.
Out of the top 25 models on the list, nine of them were GM models, which is more than any other automotive brand. The Chevrolet Corvette had the highest spot for GM, in eighth place.
In the American University Kogod School of Business Made in American Auto Index, 10 GM models placed in the top 25. This index is based on the final assembly location and where major components are produced. The Chevrolet Camaro with an automatic transmission earned an excellent second-place spot.
With a focus on producing its vehicles and sourcing their components from America, it shows that GM is dedicated to supporting American jobs and the American economy.
If you need to do any serious towing, you need a truck that can keep up with your needs. Chevrolet recently announced that the Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD has increased its maximum towing capacity for the 2021 model year. This, along with some other updates, make it one of the best heavy-duty trucks you can buy.
Last year, the Silverado 3500HD has a maximum towing capacity of 35,500 pounds. For 2021, that limit has increased to 36,000 pounds. Chevrolet said this increase was achieved through changes to the wheels and suspension. You can get this maximum towing capacity with the Work Truck trim with a regular cab, two-wheel drive, the Max Tow Package, dual rear wheels, and the 6.6-liter Duramax® diesel engine.
The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD is also adding some new technology innovations with five new trailering features including an enhanced cargo bed camera view, a trailer length indicator when changing lanes, an improved rear trailer view, a jack-knife alert, and a rear side camera view.
If you are looking for ways to make your Silverado HD stand out from the crowd, there are four new special editions available for 2021. These include the Carhartt Special Edition, the Midnight Edition, the Z71 Sport Edition, and the Z71 Chrome Sport model.
