This year, Overland Journal introduced a new award for Truck of the Year. For the inaugural year, the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison was named the Overland Truck of the Year in the mid-size truck segment. Overland Journal also gave awards for the best full-size truck, adventure motorcycle, and SUV. To determine the winners, editors sent the trucks through thousands of miles of testing, both on- and off-road, over the course of nearly a year.
Overland Journal editors were impressed with the stunning
capabilities of the Colorado ZR2 Bison, as well as its great available
features. These include its Turbo-Diesel engine, a winch-ready steel front
bumper, full-length rock sliders, front and rear locking differentials, its
rear steel bumper, and a great suspension system.
The Colorado ZR2 Bison is ready to tackle your next
adventure with a wide range of standard off-road-ready equipment including five
skid plates, a modified rear axle, large fender flares, cast-iron control arms,
and Revolutionary Multimatic DSSV dampers.
Power comes from the standard 3.6-liter V6 with 308
horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. However, it’s also available with a diesel
engine, which has an output of 181 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. When
properly equipped, the Colorado ZR2 Bison has a maximum payload capacity of
The judges heaped praise on the trailering systems of the
Sierra and Silverado, which employ numerous cameras to provide multiple views
around the vehicles from the bed, around the outside of the vehicle, and even through
the trailer. A transparent trailer view
in the vehicles uses cameras to create a view representing what’s immediately
behind the trailer, taking the stress out of backing a trailer and eliminating
the need for a second person to help you maneuver. You’ll be able to enjoy a
clear view of what’s behind the trailer on an 8-inch infotainment touch screen on
the truck’s dashboard. This handy technology is more than user friendly — it’ll
give you a sense of security greater than ever before.
The Chevrolet Corvette continues to win both hearts and awards. The 2019 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 earned honors at the 2019 Sport Auto Awards in November, taking home two trophies: one in Convertibles/Roadsters under 150,000 and the other in Euros and Coupes under 150,000 Euros.
The Corvette Z06 boasts a 6.2-liter Supercharged V8 that
delivers 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to that kind of power,
it earned a score of 52.2 percent in the convertibles and roadsters class,
allowing the Corvette Z06 to take the top prize over the Jaguar F-Type SVR and
Maserati GranCabrio. In the coupe class, the Corvette Z06 had a tighter race.
It beat out the F-Type SVR and the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye with a
score of 38.7 percent.
This is the 27th year that the German magazine, Sport
Auto, has run the awards, which are calculated in a reader’s choice format.
Readers chose from a field of 238 vehicles in 18 production and 10 tuning
vehicle categories Almost 13,000 readers participated this year in the voting
process, which is held every year in November.
Chevrolet is planning to release a new Corvette, which will
be the most powerful version of the Corvette Stingray ever made. It’s capable
of producing 490 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. With stats like that, more
awards are surely in Chevrolet’s future.
The SEMA Show is an annual event that reveals innovative aftermarket
products and celebrates the organization’s partnership with famous automakers.
Plus, it’s where the industry’s best vehicles are crowned with a prestigious
title, based on their segment. These awards are given to just five categories
of vehicles — including trucks.
The Silverado brought home the Truck of the Year title thanks
to Chevy’s dedication to introducing new features and technologies year in and
year out, aimed at constantly elevating user experience in a Silverado. This
includes technology like an available 15-view camera system to make trailering
easier, an available Head-Up Display that can project information to on the
windshield so you don’t have to take your eyes off the road, and two
segment-first rear-seatback storage compartments.
Because of these innovations and new features being added into the Silverado and other Chevy vehicles, Chevrolet continues to show its dedication to bringing only the best to its fans. This has allowed the Silverado to thrive for many years, and the best is still yet to come for Silverado fans.

It’s back-to-school season, which means the streets are likely to have more traffic congestion and more foot traffic. Whether you’re dropping off your children at school or simply driving past a school building, here are some important back-to-school safety tips to keep in mind.
There are several things you can do to improve the safety of
your family and others when dropping off your children at school. First, avoid
double parking, since it can lower the visibility for other drivers and students.
When picking up or dropping off, always do so in the designated location.
Dropping your child off across the street may save you time waiting in line,
but it can be dangerous for your child to cross the street.
Even if you don’t have kids, you’ll still need to share the
road with school-age children. It’s important to avoid blocking the crosswalk
while stopping at a red light since students might walk into traffic trying to
get around your vehicle. Additionally, slow down in school zones in case
students are walking.
We at Greenwood Chevrolet hope your family has a fantastic
school year. Stop by our service department for a vehicle inspection and any
necessary maintenance before making the commute to school.
